October - November 2011

From the President's desk:

A new Year of Optimism has begun! We are Off and Running!  I'd like to take a moment to say "Thank You" to Cheryl Pruitt the Officers and Board, for the guidance and direction in 2010 - 2011. But most importantly, I'd like to thank the membership, you are the ones that make this club work! We have made a difference in many Children's lives and I am confident that we will do the same in the future!

I have learned a lot in the past year about, what an Optimist is and what we do. I can tell you about blessings, joy, laughter and the smiles of little children that touch our hearts. All these things we have shared as an Optimist Family. I am proud to be an Optimist, but more so, I am proud to know each and everyone of you! I am excited as we move into the new year and I know that the leadership team along with the membership will again be lifted to new heights of joy and happiness that comes with helping the kids of Forsyth County.

Optimistically Yours,

Russ Thomas

Optimist Club President at the Cheer Bowl for sponsored girls.

Play at the Park

On September 25 at the new Fowler Park in Cumming was just  that...a day the Sawnee Cumming Optimist Club played and entertained 2500 to 3000 children of Forsyth County. There were 48 booths representing many areas of interest: church groups, private schools, professional services like dentists and orthodontists, and the fire department that offered a variety of giveaways for kids and information for parents as well as a variety of vendors.  Our booth seemed to be one of the busiest!

Thank you all for your help. Without the help of members volunteering their time and talents, we would not have had the traffic at our booth or the opportunity to talk to so many people about our Optimist Club. As always, We strongly believe the Family that works together stays together.

Thank you Sawnee Cumming Optimist Family!
